PHOENIX – Despite being endangered species, condors and some eagles cannot be protected from lead shot, some animal welfare organizations say.Groups like the Liberty Wildlife Organization say lead ammo used by hunters finds its way into the diets of the birds, which are slowly poisoned by the metal, significantly decreasing their populations. State officials are giving away non-lead shot to hunters, and wildlife groups are trying to raise awareness to help these species.
