Despite major losses, Democrats remain optimistic about future in Arizona

PHOENIX -Republicans swept to victory in all statewide races in Arizona on Election Day, mirroring in the state the crushing defeats for Democrats across the country. But Democrats who did manage to win said they planned to continue doing the jobs that voters elected them to do, while analysts said the outlook could be very different in coming elections. Democrats were hampered by midterms with an unpopular president in the White House, they said, and future elections could see the state begin shifting from red to blue, with shifting districts and more Latino voters.
