SIERRA OSHRIN/CRONKITE NEWS: Up north, there are some other water concerns wrapping up for a popular recreational destination. Chase Golightly traveled to Sedona today for the re-opening of Slide Rock.

CHASE GOLIGHTLY/CRONKITE NEWS: The swimming area at Sedona’s Slide Rock has finally reopened to the public, after being temporarily shut down from fire and contamination concerns earlier this summer.

The Slide Fire tore through Oak Creek. Officials were concerned that debris from the burned areas would wash into the creek with the monsoon rain. But the park service says the weather and water quality will be monitored daily to make sure it’s safe to swim.

SIERRA OSHRIN/CRONKITE NEWS: Visitors are given instructions in English and Spanish on how to evacuate the area, just in case of flash floods or hazardous conditions.
