PHOENIX – Members of Arizona’s congressional delegation have asked House leaders to OK the installation of a Barry Goldwater statue in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall by February, in time for Arizona Statehood Day. But local backers must first finish raising the roughly $500,000 in private funds that will be needed to move the 8-foot statue to Washington from its current display in Phoenix. State Sen. Adam Driggs, R-Phoenix, said the fund drive still needs about $65,000, no small feat in an election year when others are raising campaign money.
