Common Core debate pits arguments about parent involvement against rigor

A debate Thursday about Common Core featured an opponent arguing that Arizona adopted education standards developed elsewhere without involving parents and educators here. In response, a supporter said Common Core is benefiting children through more rigorous teaching and more consistency with what’s being taught in other states at each grade level.
