TEMPE – Eight routes have already been approved for the planned Tempe streetcar, and additional stops were discussed in the latest City Council meeting. Some residents said that another transit system is not necessary now that light rail passes through Tempe. But business owners who spoke at the meeting are excited about a transit option that would bring shoppers right to their doors. The streetcar is expected to begin running by 2018.
