Local dairy takes a page from the past while pushing into the future

LAVEEN – A Laveen dairy is using old methods and old machinery to produce milk with a decidedly new twist. Danzeisen Dairy sells its milk in old-fashioned glass bottles and, because the farm and its 1,000 Holsteins are within the Phoenix city limits, it is able to market milk to its customers just 12 hours after each of the three daily milkings. But the company blends that old-fashioned appeal with next-generation flavored milks that push the envelope, including root beer, egg nog and Arizona orange. Customers who were skeptical at first said they have been won over by the new milks.
