PHOENIX – A new directive from Arizona State University officials requires that students take an online course, “Consent and Respect,” aimed at increasing awareness of sexual violence and creating a safer campus culture. It comes as the university is one of 88 in the country that is being investigated by the U.S. Department of Education for its handling of sexual assault complaints on campus. ASU officials report that 65 students have filed sexual assault complaints since 2009.
