PHOENIX – Despite hearings, headlines and congressional action aimed at improving the scandal-ridden Department of Veterans Affairs, it can still be tough for veterans in Arizona to get the benefits they say they need and deserve. That’s why the city of Tempe teamed with Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Phoenix, recently to bring together 31 nonprofit organizations in an effort to get those vets the assistance they need. The event at Rio Salado College was designed to be a one-stop shop on benefits information for vets and their families trying to navigate the VA process.
