High school football player perseveres despite two knee injuries

MESA – Skyline High School quarterback Jake Roberts’ determination to lead the Coyotes in this, his senior year, was almost derailed by knee injuries that sidelined him in two consecutive years. Roberts, who twice tore his ACL, along with other damage to his knees, could have given up the sport but said his teammates motivated him to push through and get back on the field. And now he hopes he can draw the attention of a college program and continue his playing days after Friday’s final regular-season game for the Coyotes.
