PHOENIX – A trial began Monday that will determine whether Arizona must retroactively pay schools for inflation costs that it did not pay during the Great Recession. The trial is one part of the ongoing debate on education funding cuts, which Democratic gubernatorial candidate Fred DuVal has focused heavily on during his campaign. DuVal recently highlighted a four-step plan that includes stopping cuts such as those during the recession. Republican Doug Ducey has also been emphasizing education, but his goals take a different route.
