Fifty years ago the Phoenix Zoo opened its doors. What started as a dedicated bunch of amateurs has grown into a zoo that now has 1.4 million annual visitors and 1100 animals. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, on Nov. 17 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the zoo will hold a wide range of activities including zookeepers explaining how exhibits have evolved over 50 years. Cronkite News reporter Corbin Carson has the story.
